City/hotel recommendations for mid-north Florida or south Georgia beach vacation?

I live in Jacksonville,Florida and I want to take a 3-4 day mini on the beach vacation. Preferrably within 3 hours from home. I want to stay on the beach and we are a young couple so a plaace with good restaurants and bars in walking distance would be nice. Any ideas? (Not Daytona) =)

3. I'd like to mount a campaign to encourage people not to go anywhere. Travel has become so expensive and unpleasant that it's hard to understand why people don't stay home. Why are we crowding our highways and airports to get someplace else? Newspapers and magazines are filled with ads trying to get us to travel. They want us to go somewhere - anywhere but home.
