Virginia Beach or Myrtle Beach - Which is better for two friends on vacation?

A friend and I are looking to go on a beach vacation on the east coast (we live on the west side) around Labor Day this year, and have heard both VA beach and Myrtle Beach are good options. Which would you recommend? We mostly just want to relax and have fun on the beach during the day - do some typical touristy things - but be able to have a decent night life available to us as well.

2. Myrtle Beach...I used to live there and went to college there and now I live in VA and let me tell you that Myrtle Beach has the better nightlife and will be warmer. Around labor day it can be a little chilly in VA. Good luck and have fun!
